I started training at the studio 12 months ago, not in good physical shape or particularly good mental shape but with the help of TL Sports I have since lost weight, completed a marathon row alongside some amazing people, ran a new PB over 5k, ran my 1st 8k at an inspirational international event, am about to run my 1st 10k and have committed to run a marathon in 12 months time.  There is still a long way to go for me but I am in no doubt that without the support, guidance and encouragement from Paul I would not have achieved all that I have in the past year and I certainly wouldn't be dreaming about a marathon!! We joke that he often knows how I'm feeling before I do..... that in itself instills confidence in me to trust him and push myself to the limit.

— Andy | 39yrs

I have been training with Paul for 9 months. Having a one-to-one Personal Trainer and being the only person in his studio/gym has suited me, as I have found that my spasmodic gym membership elsewhere over the years has never been a success.  I need someone to push me and Paul does that with humour and encouragement, often beyond what I think I can do, but he also tailors my workout to accommodate the various aches and pains that come with the increasing decrepitude of my advancing years (I am 73).  He is most highly recommended

—  Suzanne | 73yrs

Paul is an absolute pleasure to deal with.  He has gained so much knowledge over the years and really listens to me as an athlete.  As a goal focussed Triathlete, Paul has really improved my cycling to the point that I am pushing out the best numbers I have ever reached.

— Matt | 46yrs

I’ve been training with Paul at TL Sports Studio for 6 months now, for one-2-one training.  I used to go to a mainstream gym for a good few years, however the benefits of having a one-to-one personal trainer in a private environment are huge.

The style of training, use of equipment and quality of each session has enabled me to gain so much more from my training time. Also the training has improved my posture, which has reduced work related pains.

Paul’s knowledge on the science of fitness and health is incredible he’s help me understand a lot more about how my body works, trains and adapts. I’ve had my own business for 20 years and since going to Paul for my one-to-one training has helped my mindset, positivity and training.

— Zane

I started with Paul in January 2019 with the aim of passing the Navy Fitness rest. I was nowhere near the fitness required but in a few months with Paul I not only passed the test but beat the  2.4km test time by over a minute. Paul also coached me  to complete a marathon Indoor Row (42km) only 3 months after starting with him and more recently I ran a 5 min personal best for 5km, clocking just over 25 mins, having never run under 30 mins! My knowledge and application of nutrition has improved massively, and will make a difference for my long term future. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve these things without the quality and structure of training the Paul provides.

— James; 20yrs

Last week I took part in my first half marathon race and the experience was amazing, and now have a pb of 1hr 53 mins for half marathon, 55 mins for 10km and 24 mins for 5km.  Twelve months ago I had only ever run 5km and was beginning to struggle with motivation.  The training plan and attention to detail by TL sports has been inspiring.  I have steadily built my strength and stamina and look forward to all my runs.  I am now training for my first marathon and could not have even considered this without the skill, knowledge and support of TL sports.

— Viki | 46yrs

I first met Paul just over 10 years ago. I was an overweight ex squaddie who needed to get back into fitness, so I joined the local running club which Paul and his father Lee had formed.  With Pauls expert running coaching it was not long before I went from a jogger to a runner!

Over the years with Pauls coaching and training I have completed races/events that I thought were way beyond anything I could ever achieve.  5Km up to 50m/100m Ultra races.  I am now a very keen triathlete having competed in Sprint triathlons up to IRONMAN Distance.

What ever your sport Paul has the ability to get the best from you. His own experience at competing as a high level athlete allows him to understand what it takes to achieve your goals/dreams.

Paul focuses on all aspects during training, understanding what it takes to get a person to the start line, it’s not just the physical side but also the mental state that makes someone a good athlete.

After an event Paul has often guided me through the recovery process. His knowledge of the body and how it works and what it needs to recover is immense. Following Pauls advice after events has certainly prevented possible injuries.

David | 52yrs |  always looking for new challenges and pushing boundaries (Bexhill Runners & Triathletes)

Charity

A genetic disease very close to TL Sports and a charity we support.

Paul Holdaway, Race Director and Head Coach at TL Sports was diagnosed with Haemochromatosis in 2016. Due to a late diagnosis and the severity of his illness, at the age of 36, Paul ended up having a total hip replacement, left ankle fusion alongside multiple joint damage and chronic fatigue which ended his personal competitive triathlon & running career in its prime. TL Sports is a family business, and we hope to continue to raise awareness and some money through our events, and personal physical challenges!
